So I know this has been a week back or so, but damn I have been busy. ... but for real .. derrick forreal, I went to a place and saw a show. Last Thursday I and Mrs !upstarter went up to Santa Ana to the Galaxy Theater and saw the last best punk rock show they are currently destined to ever have.

The show was a benefit for Chckn (guitarist for D.I.). He's got the cancer, but he don't let it keep him down (he also don't let it from keeping the tobaco companies down ... Chckn, stop smoking!) ok, after the rant, one of the best fucking show's I've ever seen. It is a bit sad that my visit to the Galaxy was both first and last. I won't get to far into the nitty gritty, but it was more or less and old school SoCal punk rock reunion for one of their own.

How do you describe such a show? All the bands stood out. Noise Attack, Narcoleptic Youth, Shattered Faith (Old School Bad Ass) The Uprising, Manic Hispanic, D.I. T.S.O.L. Agent Orange ... There was a brilliant sense of purpose. There was a sense of comradery that is seldom ever seen. I know that I am short stacking things, but we'll save the hyperbolity for when I'm older.

What it stacks up to is the best of times and worst of times (it was my first time at a punk show at the Galaxy. It was my last time at a punk show at the Galaxy. After that night, the Galaxy is slated to become some sort of dance club.) ... I guess I am the Darnay in this one though. I got to see a really great show. I got to see it at a legendary venue. The food there will nearly kill you. I spent five bucks on a thimble full of watered down beer.

Ok, the point remains Chckn (of D.I.) has some amazing medical bills to pay (like 250K +) and the proceeds from the show (around 25K) barely put a dent in that bill. If you've ever thought about how you could make things better, send Chckn a buck or two. Save a punker. Save Punk Rock!
